Tattoo Aftercare Instructions.
Aftercare instructions are going to vary and not everyone follows the same method. Please follow the instructions given to you by your artist.
For our general instructions we recommend leaving your bandage on 1-2 hours after receiving your tattoo. If you were wrapped with second skin please leave the wrap on for a total of 24 to 48 hours.
Once you remove your wrap clean the area with a liquid, anti-bacterial, non-scented soap such as dial gold.
Let the tattoo air out and then apply a thin layer of cream/ ointment. If you are using a thicker ointment, such as Aquaphor, let it sit on the skin for about 10-15 min. and then pat the excess off.
(Thicker ointments will suffocate the tattoo causing the dry layers on the surface to turn into a goopy mess, irritating the skin further, and resulting in inflammation and ink fall-out.)
We recommend washing your tattoo and applying ointment 2 -3 times per day. You will want to repeat this process until the tattoo peals and no longer itches.
Avoid exposure to sunlight, dirty areas such as the gym. hot tubs, or submerging the tattoo in water for a minimal of 2 weeks.
It is important that you drink plenty of water and try to stay as healthy as possible for the best results.
If you have any concerns with how your tattoo is healing, please see your artist before going to a doctor or another shop.
Your artist knows which products, needles, and how your skin reacted during the procedure and is going to be able to give you the best advice for the tattoo they did. In the event you are ever unhappy with your results please reach out to your artist and we will get you taken care of when we can.
